Heliotis will move into larger facility   (18. January, 2012)

Heliotis, a leading provider of 3D-inspection technology, is delighted to announce their relocation to its new offices in Längenbold 5, 6037 Root/Lucerne. The move stems from Heliotis' strong growth in the last years. "As our products continue to be adopted into new markets we needed to add space for the company's growing teams in R&D, manufacturing and customer support. " said Rudolf Moosburger, CEO of Heliotis.

The relocation will take place on January 25th, 2012. For more information, please contact Nicole Montini at nicole.montini@heliotis.ch.

Leading research group finds new application for Smart-Pixel-Technology
(Physical Review Letters 107, 093002 , 2011)

Frequency Comb Velocity-Modulation Spectroscopy

JILA, National Institute of Standards and Technology and University of Colorado Department of Physics, University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado 80309-0440, USA

We have demonstrated a new technique that provides massively parallel comb spectroscopy sensitive specifically to ions through the combination of cavity-enhanced direct frequency comb spectroscopy with velocity-modulation spectroscopy. Using this novel system, we have measured electronic transitions of HfF+ and achieved a fractional absorption sensitivity of 3×10-7 recorded over 1500 simultaneous channels spanning 150  cm-1 around 800 nm with an absolute frequency accuracy of 30 MHz (0.001  cm-1). A fully sampled spectrum consisting of interleaved measurements is acquired in 30 min.

Heliotis to give a talk at the Industrial VISION Days 2011
(Industrial Forum
VISION, Stuttgart, 10. November 2011)

High-Speed 3D Sensor with Micrometer Resolution Ready for The Production Floor
In the realm of industrial vision, the use of white light interferometry based 3D measurement systems has so far been limited. Long measurement times and a vulnerability to vibrations render standard interferometers incompatible with production requirements. Heliotis presents a novel high-speed/high-precision 3D sensor based on parallel Optical Coherence Tomography (pOCT). Video-rate 3D-surface acquisition is achieved by the use of Pixel-Level Signal Processing and Camera-Level surface extraction. The novel 3D sensor combines the advantages of 3D microscopes - such as micrometer precision - with speed and applicability to both diffusive and reflective surfaces.System integrators and equipment manufacturers can integrate the new high resolution 3D sensor to address a range of applications that could not be solved by the established triangulation-based systems. The talk will also discuss application examples and related opportunities (and challenges) in the field of image processing.

Heliotis' technology to fight counterfeit medical products (May, 2011)

Counterfeit medicinal products are a threat to the health and safety of patients around the world. They range from drugs with no active ingredients to those with dangerous impurities. They can be copies of branded drugs, generic drugs or over-the-counter drugs as well as faked implants or diagnostic devices.

The European Union has awarded a research grant to the multinational consortium SAVEmed that will develop technologies aimed at reducing counterfeiting. In SAVEmed self-verification security systems highly relevant for a secure track-and-trace system for the whole supply chain of a variety of medical products (e.g. solid dosage forms, pharmaceutical containers, medical implants, and sterile pouches) will be developed. The key of the system is that it will work independently of external databases. It will enable the verification of the product's genuineness and its correct supply chain on-site at every step of this chain.

Publication in INSPECT 2011 (April, 2011)
